Pencil Sharpener for pencils or dowels

I had to sharpen some dowels and found it difficult to do on a sander so I thought why not
use my pencil sharpener.

Then it struck me, why not hook it up to my drill.
It was very easy to put everything together.

I removed the handle and extended it with a bolt
so the drill chuck can fit.
I also had to build a platform to keep everything secure. I was made out of 3/4" Baltic birch and had a slight slope to copy the angle of the drill, around 3 degrees. I then made a box to collect the shavings.

Pencils sharpen very fast and the dowels turned out quit nice. I guess it can all be done by hand but this does speed things up if you need to turn out many.

Check out my Pencil Dispencer if you have a lot of sharpening to do or if you have kids that need their pencil crayons sharpened at the beginning of the school year this is the way to go.

An easy project that can be done over the weekend!
